Avoid Living for Worldly Comfort
“So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” – Luke
12:21 (ESV)
When billionaire Howard Hughes died, someone asked how much money he left
behind. The answer? “All of it” [(Time Magazine]. Jesus tells a parable in Luke 12 of a
man who hits the financial jackpot. His solution? Tear down his barns and build bigger
ones so he can eat, drink, and relax. But God calls him a fool—not for being wealthy,
but for being unwise with what truly matters.
Jesus warns that riches without righteousness are empty. This man prepared for
retirement but not eternity. Pastor Jacob reminded us that success isn't found in
comfort—it's found in calling. A Kingdom legacy means investing in what matters to
God, not just what pleases us.
Reflection:
1. Are you building a life that ends with a bigger barn—or a bigger impact?
2. What are you doing today that outlasts tomorrow?
Suggested Prayer:
Father, help me live for more than comfort. I want my legacy to be eternal, not
temporary.

Trust in God for Your Daily Needs
“Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap… yet God feeds them. Of how much
more value are you than the birds!” – Luke 12:24 (ESV)
Corrie ten Boom once said, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties
today of its strength” (Corrie ten Boom, Clippings from My Notebook). Jesus echoes
that wisdom in Luke 12. He points to the raven—a bird considered unclean under the
law—and yet even that outcast is under God’s care.
This isn't a call to laziness. Jesus isn't saying stop working; He’s saying stop worrying.
Your heavenly Father knows what you need before you do. Pastor Jacob is stepping
into the unknown with confidence not in the plan but in the Provider. And so should we.
Reflection:
1. What keeps you up at night?
2. What would change if you truly believed God was handling it?
Suggested Prayer:
Father, I trust You to care for my daily needs just like You care for the birds of the air.

God Knows What You Need
“But if God so clothes the grass… how much more will he clothe you, O you of little
faith!” – Luke 12:28 (ESV)
Jim Gaffigan once joked, “You ever get so tired that you wake up tired?” That’s
worry—it exhausts without progress. Jesus draws our attention to the lilies of the field.
They don’t have sewing machines or sales racks, but their beauty outshines Solomon in
all his splendor.
Grass fades, yet God adorns it. How much more will He care for you—His child, His
creation, His image-bearer? Our doubts don’t reflect God’s lack of provision—they
reflect our lack of perspective. Pastor Jacob reminded us: God doesn’t just see your
need—He’s already acting on it.
Reflection:
1. Are you trusting God’s provision or trying to do it all yourself?
2. What “lily moment” do you need to remember today?
Suggested Prayer:
Father, slow me down and remind me that You already know what I need—and You’re
not late.

Seek to Build God’s Kingdom – Sacrifice & Generosity
“Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.” – Luke 12:31 (ESV)
A Sunday school teacher once asked her class what they'd do with a million dollars.
One boy said, “I’d give it all to God!” She replied, “That's generous.” He shrugged, “It’s
easy when you don’t have it.” Sometimes we love the idea of sacrifice—until it gets
personal.
Jesus flips the script on success. When we first seek His Kingdom, Jesus promises to
take care of everything else. True Kingdom living isn’t about gathering; it’s about giving.
Seeking His Kingdom means surrendering ours. Pastor Jacob isn’t choosing comfort in
Boston—he’s choosing calling. Sacrifice is a path, not a punishment. When we give,
God fills.
Reflection:
1. What’s one area you’re hesitant to release to God?
2. How might generosity change your perspective?
Suggested Prayer:
Father, make me bold enough to give like You give—sacrificially, joyfully, and fully.

Seek to Build God’s Kingdom – Heavenly Treasure
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” – Luke 12:34 (ESV)
Comedian Steven Wright once said, “I have the world’s largest seashell collection. I
keep it scattered on beaches all over the world... maybe you’ve seen it.” Hilarious—and
telling. Jesus says our hearts follow our treasure, and too often, our treasure is
scattered across things that don’t last.
Jesus invites us to store up treasure in heaven through serving, giving, sharing, and
trusting. Eternal treasure doesn’t rust, mold, or crash in value. Pastor Jacob is aiming
for a city with high spiritual needs—not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth it.
That’s legacy. That’s treasure.
Reflection:
1. What’s your spiritual investment strategy?
2. Is your heart following your money—or the other way around?
Suggested Prayer:
Father, help me store up treasure in Heaven by giving my time, money, and heart to
You.
